Hello,

That was a real sweet SwissMiss yesterday, the lady that announced LiDAR and other geospatial data to become open data with the words:

"Today, geodata are part of the infrastructure like roads and railways".

https://rapidlasso.com/2021/03/01/swiss-add-liberal-open-lidar-and-break-with-conservative-stereotypes-like-bank-secrecy-yodeling-and-punctuality/

Hello Germany? Hello Austria? Where is your Open-Data-Autobahn? Whatever happened to unlimited speeds and endless Fahrvergnügen ... (-;

Regards,

Martin

That's very nice!

Do you have a link to the portal?

According to the CIA factbook your total area is just 2586 km^2, so with 4 points/m^2 that's about 1e10 points or about 35 GB (as LAZ files) depending upon data fluff/sorting etc.

Those listed zip files, I hope this is just a zip wrapper (without compression) around laz files, and not zip-compressed las which is far less efficent!

the point clouds are complete with a point density of less than 10cm.

here the link

A rich, small country can afford 15 pulses/m^2, so that should give you really excellent base material for topographic maps. I did notice that someone had already uploaded a paper about using Jarkko Ryyppö's Kartapullautin to machine-generate topo maps including vegetation classification. The density of vegetation returns really help here!
