Hi all!

Quick question (and sorry for bugging the group so much!)

I am trying to convert my Z data from US Survey Feet to the more appropriate vertical meter.

I've used las2txt to download the tile's xyz info, and was hoping to just simply multiply the z coordinate by (1200/3937) in excel, but it seems excel cannot handle over a million points (rows).

any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Schyler Brown

I had this same issue recently. The only other posts I saw did not have a solution posted. But I ended up using the -scale_z 0.3048 option in las2las.

Hi Paul,

Did your solution work for you?
I tried a similar approach, but my data still came out in Feet.

I appreciate it,

Schyler

When you say it comes out in feet, you mean the z values haven't changed or the header still says the data is in feet?

The -scale_z 0.3048 did do the conversion, yes.

Hi Paul,

I just wanted to give you an update, I tried the scale z option again, and it actually worked this time. I'm pretty sure it's because of my cluttered pathway organization and me using wrong files last time. In other words, time to get organized.

Thanks,
