Horizontal Datum Transformation via Correction Grid (NTv2)

Hi Martin,

I was wondering has there been any progress with adding horizontal datum transformations via correction grids to LAStools?

A lot of our LAS data from ALS/MLS is tied to local ground control (AHD) so it would be very useful to be able to use NTv2 grid files to do the 2d transformation from GDA94 to GDA2020.

yes. Some work is being done to eventually support NTv2 grid files to do the 2d transformation between different horizontal datums. Do you have some pairs of sample LAZ files for me that are already in correct GDA94 and GDA2020 representation, as well as the NTv2 shift grid file for your area of interest? Please share via link only.

Yup I will email you a download link with some sample pairs of LAS files.

The NTv2 Grid File for our area is GDA94_GDA2020_conformal.gsb that can be downloaded from here (https://github.com/icsm-au/transformation_grids)
