Martin won the 2022 Outstanding Personal Achievement in LiDAR award @GeoWeek/Denver! He was selected to be honored posthumously by the geospatial industry after being nominated by researchers and industry peers from around the world for his outstanding contributions to geospatial LiDAR technology. The committee received an overwhelming number of nominations for Martin and the choice on him fell unanimously. Rapidlasso's CEO Silke traveled to Denver to accept this well-deserved recognition of Martin‘s work on his behalf and to present a memorial tribute to one of LiDAR’s most notable figures. A big thank you to all nominators!

Permit me to congratulate Martin and the entire Team rapidlasso for this outstanding award. Dr martin was indeed an outstanding individual who was always ready to go the extra length to give his support. I miss his constant humour but I am consoled that his memories will live on... A true consolation is the award he has just been given. Big congrats Martin.

Dear lastools managers & users,
Great insight to his life and achievements, nice to know how he stands up after every fall down, as other geniuses he shared his ideas and confronts others no matter what happened afterwards. Maybe his adventurer spirit gave him a lot of ideas to develop.
I did not know him personally, but after reading the letter I feel very empathic to him.
God bless him, and all the others who continue his work.
