I have lost some data in the Language Forge version of the dictionary, but have a Flex backup I can restore. How do I overwrite the Language Forge data with the Flex data? (If I simply do Send and Receive I'm afraid the reverse will happen).

Hi David,

Here are a few options:

Option A:
  1. Delete your Language Forge project (if you are the owner)
  2. Contact the Language Depot admin (ad...@languagedepot.org) and ask for your Language Depot project to be reset to an empty project that you can push a new FLEx project to
  3. Restore the FLEx project and push it to the project above (or alternatively push it to a brand new FLEx project)
  4. Create a new Language Forge project and connect it to the above FLEx project on Language Depot
Option B (I haven't tried this so I cannot verify it will work):
  1. Restore the FLEx backup on top of the project with the lost data.
  2. Send/Receive with FLEx and hope it works out
  3. Clean up data if necessary
Warm regards,

I just thought of the 2nd option myself. It's simpler, if it works. I'll try it now...

Ok that doesn't work, as Flex doesn't allow you to overwrite a dictionary that is used for Send/Receive with a backup. All you can do is make a new project using the backed up data. I did that and copied and pasted some info back into the original dictionary and I think all should now be fine.

Back-story: I just appointed a new dictionary worker, but somehow some Turkmen data got lost. Maybe he deleted the 'citation form' by mistake (thinking there are two lots of entry words).

So how do I delete the old (corrupted) project in Language Forge?

Strange problem - I logged into Language Depot and it records no activity for today even though I have made changes and done S/R! Very odd.
