I'm new to Lisp and really want to use Land of Lisp to learn it. Will I be able to follow the examples using Dr Racket?

Hi Gail, I would instead get the book "realm of racket" which is a modified version of "land of lisp" designed for racket.

best of luck!

I would say so yes. You just need to include the type of LISP you are using. The Racket website will help you set that up.

You can also load SBCL into emacs.

hi Conrad,

I've fallen for the images in 'Land of Lisp', so really want to use that book! What's the best way of running Lisp on Windows?  (I might have to get a Linux VM, but it would be so nice to just use my laptop.)

Gail

I think you can run clisp or sbcl natively... Myself I would probably use WSL in windows and then use sbcl.

Thank you - I installed Debian on Windows and used nano to copy guess.lisp and wizards_game.lisp and got them running using clisp. I've ordered your book. Am really excited as my colleague told me that lisp is the Latin of Programming Languages :)
