Dear Parents,My name is Mila Kaplan, and I am now the current captain of the Lake Monster's Robotics team. Our members, volunteers, and mentors, have worked tirelessly to grow this team, and I thank you all for this. However, in order to continue to grow this team, we need sufficient space to do so. Due to the fact that the Lake Oswego School District is considering annexing our lab in coming years for parking space, I believe that it is time that we leverage parent involvement in district discussions to secure a future for our students. The board is hosting a town meeting discussing its long range facility plans on the 17th, and I plan for us to be involved in this event. Our voices, stories, and experiences from robotics are incredibly influential, so I ask you all to draft letters about what robotics has done for you and your child, and how losing the lab would be detrimental to everyone involved. If you are able to attend the meeting in person, that would be even better. Specifics about location and time(s) for the letter and testimonies are down below.
If we are able to band together to make sure that our pleas are heard, we can make a difference in not only the lives of our members, but also everyone in and out of our community.
