Hi all,

Greetings from one of your SIG K8s Infra Tech Leads!

tl;dr The gcr.io/kubernetes-e2e-test-images image repository is deprecated, as of v1.23 the project uses k8s.gcr.io/e2e-test-images instead

Over the course of 3 releases we have migrated images used in kubernetes/kubernetes e2e tests from the google.com-owned gcr.io/kubernetes-e2e-test-images repository to the community-owned k8s.gcr.io/e2e-test-images repository [1].  We finally managed to close this out during v1.23!  This is part of a broader effort to migrate all images used by kubernetes/kubernetes CI to community-owned infrastructure [2].

Next steps:
- Users who air-gap images can continue to use the list of images output by `e2e.test --list-images`
- SIG Node could use contributors' help with migrating us away from gcr.io/k8s-authenticated-test [3] and gcr.io/authenticated-image-pulling [4]
- The deprecated gcr.io/kubernetes-e2e-test-images repository will remain as long as currently supported versions of kubernetes require it, after which time it may be removed

Special thanks to the following contributors who drove this forward!

- @chewong
- @claudiubelu
