Hi,

I miss DOpus' folder alias functionality and I wonder if I can have similar functionality in Krusader. Folder alias works as follows - one need to set an alias and the target first (e.g. ~ for home folder) and in the main pane, press /, and ~ then enter, and the pane will switch to that folder immediately.

This is very fast and keyboard friendly way to go to freqently visited pages. Is there any way to do this in Krusader?

Best Regards,
Joon

Yes, you add a bookmark for the folder in question. Then in "Configure
Shortcuts" you a sign a keyboard key combination to that folder.

Thanks. But I wonder if I could assign aliases (not shortcuts) to folders through the shortcuts menu though.

Sorry, I don't see the difference in functionality between an "alias" and a shortcut. Both use a keyboard-shortcut to change to a pre-specified directory. (I have Shift+H go to ~/  , for example).

Well, I found aliases much more flexible than shortcuts. For example, let's say I have a project folder Project and the folder has subfolders Code, Paper, Wiki, etc.
In DOpus I can set aliases such as project, project-code, project-paper, project-wik to those foldersi. Then, wherever I am, I can press /, and start typing pro, and DOpus shows autocompletions of all aliases starting pro. This is more useful than shortcuts IMO, because you can remember only so many shortcuts.

I can actually do this in terminal by having aliases to cd folders. It would be great to be able to send this kind of command to embedded terminal in Krusader and as the working directory in terminal changes Krusader's pane folder also changes.

Best,
Joon

I was playing around with it, and it seems this folder alias can be implemented if I can do the following:
  1. have a shortcut to go to command line (could not find it)
  2. able to set aliases for command line

It seems neither of them are not possible at the moment. Is this correct?

Thank you,

Joon
