HDMI input with PiSmasher

My first application will be to use the Snickerdoodle-PiSmasher in a HDMI streaming application. 

Can you suggest the best OS for this? 

Is there any documentation or examples available?

We'll initially be using Linux (V4L) for HDMI streaming with piSmasher. The final piece we're working on is figuring out an "open"/reusable IP solution (as the HDMI feed is being fed to the programmable logic). No documentation yet but we'll be posting more info on this ASAP...
