Hi all,

We are excited to announce a significant improvement to build performance in Konflux! Caching proxies are now available in all Red Hat Konflux clusters.

These proxies work by caching base image layers, which reduces the time required to pull these images during your builds. This should lead to faster overall build times for your projects.

How to Enable Caching:

Enabling the use of these proxies is done on a pipeline-by-pipeline basis by setting the enable-cache-proxy parameter to "true".

This parameter was introduced a few weeks ago to all pull-request pipelines via a mint-maker update. If you use a standard Konflux pull-request pipeline, you should be able to set the parameter right away.

An update to introduce this parameter to the push pipelines is pending a mint-maker release and will be announced separately.

We encourage you to ensure this parameter is set in your pipelines to take full advantage of the improved performance.

Happy building!

Hi Barak,

1) The best demo video I have recently seen!
2) https://konflux-ci.dev/ seems to be down ("konflux-ci.dev is parked free, courtesy of Godaddy.com") 😨
3) Is image caching used/planned/applicable also for container images used by the build pipelines themselves?

Regards
Tomas

Does the caching mechanism work for other artifacts? We have a container with a huge generic artifact, would be great if prefetch-dependencies could get advantage of the cache while fetching generic artifacts, rpms etc

@Tomas Mlcoch, we are aware of the issue with konflux-ci.dev and have been trying to remediate the issue.

Thanks! I hope people have as much fun watching it as I had making it....

Sorry, 'bout that, we are looking into it, but let's keep this thread about caching.

Not applicable for that ATM, and I think we'll need a different solution there anyway. It's my opinion that the task images and Tekton bundles should be installed into the cluster in a way that would not require internet access after the installation, as I think those are a part of the Konflux "software" rather than the data its processing.

Having said the above, we don't really have an active discussion about this in the community yet.

Regards,
Barak.
