Happy New Year to you, John,

I fear the strong wind will create drifts, that eventually become hard and unsailable.
However Lake Champlain, Malletts bay Colchester VT., received no snow.
See Champlain Marina live webcam.
Could be great sailing  there, site of many Eastern  region regattas.

Waiting for a report from a local,

Cheers,
André

Thanks Karen,
Looks like we are sailing either at Malletts bay, or Inland Sea, Sand Bar which will be checked by Eben and Don Brush today.
Montrealers are heading  down tomorrow morning. Good gang shaping up. Nice forecast, temp and wind.
Will you and T join us ?

Cheers,
André

No, unfortunately, I have a fundraising event at work I have to be present for. Total bummer. I'll be in uncomfortable heels and dress nstead of my spikes and Carhartt suit. You know where I'd rather be....

Yesterday aft I saw a few square yards of proto skim ice in a bay near my home in Kingston. THis morning I saw  the whole harbour had frozen overnight. A lake swell was still heaving fragments very near shore, but they were over 5/8" thick. The plate must be quite a bit thicker. We have a westerly breeze of 12 knots according to KYC this aft but thanks the gods and goddesses it is supposed to veer to Northwest and other northerly directions over the next several days of super cold nights (and days) with trivial precip forecast. Hope and pray it lasts. I do not ever recall the harbour freezing this early. Those last sveral weeks of gales and way below normal temps must have 'wicked' all the heat out of the lake.

ps satellite imagery supposedly real time at 14:00 underpresents the ice cover. Looking from shore over an hour ago I was sure it goes all the way to Nine Mile Point at the very least.

Colin, don't forget the insurance issue if NAs come to Canada. If KYC hosts, issue disappears (second) if, KYC agrees to add IDNIYRA as rider on Club liability policy.
