Hi,
Here are a few pictures of today’s sailing on Lake St Louis.
Access from parc St Louis is the best.
Plank is needed as the lake level rose up.
We could sail through the snow next to shore, and sail through the grade 6 ice leading to the plate. The weak spots on the grey ice under the snow patches have solidified, and are now ranging from 2,5 to 4 inches.
The plate has thickened to 4 inches solid black ice.
We scouted the ice in the afternoon.
On the west side, the usual crack is crossing the lake from Thompson point heading South East.
There is good ice on both sides. The one on the east side was sailed by 3 DNs.
Grade is 10, becoming 9 at the very east end past Centennial park.
Attached are a few pictures. I left my boat on the ice, but I don’t plan to sail due to the freezing rain.
Let’s hope it does not become snow….
