I talked with Rick at Vino last night. He said we can use his backroom. I checked it out, it is secluded. It is detached from the tasting room. However, there is a small event going on that evening. It is in the main room. Please give me feedback. I understand if it needs to be a Zoom call 😀

Thanks for your ideas and research for the November Kerns NA meeting place.

I would like to add support for Bennet's Best Bites 1926 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland, OR 97232  https://maps.app.goo.gl/6bKGvWBM1FU8ireM6 (see map screenshot below) as the November 19 location - and part of our agenda can be to discuss locations in the future and in general. What are we looking for? What are the criteria? Pros and cons? Should it always be in one place or move around? etc.

I think there are some great things about Bennet's Bites as an option:

1) It is smack in the middle of Kerns: we need to reach out to everyone in Kerns - East and West, North and South - and being in the center will help reach more people (see pics below)

2) If it's after hours it would be quiet - yet also feeling like a public space.

3) It is next to Pho Gia and the Musicians Union - which I think could both be candidates for locations. So for example if one doesn't work out maybe another of these 3 venues will - all in the center of Kerns NA

4) Elizabeth already researched it and communicated with the owner - and Ndem voiced support. These are big pluses! (see thread below)

5) It is a new business in Kerns which we can support and discuss in terms of businesses and restaurants in Kerns and the role we want to play with them - and it can tie in with Kernside as well.

Wow….great leg work all!

I’m of the mind that it’s best to have KNA meetings in one consistent place in order to maximize turnout.

While I like the idea of moving it around to other locations as a way to be inclusive of neighborhood business’ ,etc….I fear that it could get confusing and cause us to lose attendees?

Anyway, that’s just this one veterans opinion!

Agree with consistency. I think that if we have more reminders, we can encourage more people to attend. Having a different location once in a while, like quarterly, was more what I had in mind for locations.

Hi Everybody,

I have the best news: Bennett’s Best Bites has agreed to host us for the November meeting! I spoke with Matt Bennett today, in person. He explained to me that he chose the restaurant location because of the Kerns neighborhood’s highly regarded reputation. His business identity goals include growing a strong social atmosphere, he is community driven and of course he only serves high quality food and beverages. He is a true Portland’s- born and raised in our city. I fully support having the November meeting at BBB. We will have the restaurant to ourselves. It will be closed. I need to confirm with him on Monday that the board has agreed to allow us to have the November 19th meeting at his establishment. 

I look forward to hearing from everyone in a timely manner, as I need to post where the meeting will take place, on Instagram and Facebook. We have momentum going in terms of our friends and neighbors joining in our meetings. Let’s make the most of November’s meeting since  we don’t have a meeting in December.
