Thanks Daniel!
Great information. Thanks for reaching out to them.
Very generous of Migration to be willing to let us use their space at no charge.
Based on your email I would think that the 'semi-private' area could work for our meeting. I can't quite picture where that is - but if it's a room in the back then I think that would work.
But if not then let's brainstorm another location. And as a fall back we can always do Zoom only.
Curious what other people think?

Hey team,

Colin at Migration got back to me about hosting our next KNA meeting. Here's what he said:
"Daniel we would love to host you again at our Glisan location. We do have another group on the calendar at 6:30 on the 19th but for 8-20 people we could reserve our semi private space for you in the main pub at no cost."

He also said that he'd be happy to host us monthly if we want to put it on the calendar. So, all that is to say that I don't think Migration would work for our November meeting, but if we want to put it on the calendar for January, we can.

Thoughts?

Hi Everybody,
Thank you, Daniel, for checking into Migration. I think the semi permanent area there sounds like a good idea. Admittedly, I always order my food to go, so I don’t know where the spare room is. I’m happy to meet anywhere. I can do Zoom, but I prefer to see everyone in person, if that’s possible. How else will you get to eat my holiday cupcakes?

Thank you,
Elizabeth Armstrong

I checked with Colin and he said that "The semi private space is the room on the west wall connected to the main pub area. "

I don't actually think this would be a good space for the meeting, as it will be even louder than the other space at Migration. I won't be at the November meeting, but my recommendation would be to find somewhere else, and then try meeting at Migration again for January.

HI all,
Sorry to be off the radar last week. I hurt my back badly and have been in dire pain and it’s just starting to heal a bit now.

RE Migration, I agree with folks who thought it was too noisy and not a good fit for our meetings.
Pacific Crest still seems pretty central and convenient and is just off the table for Nov. for a special event there so…I propose keeping on there until something much better arises.

RE: board meeting…I haven’t talked to Dave yet about it and will be most interested to see how it went and what got covered.

Thanks to all for carrying on forward.

Best,
Achy Breaky Dr. Jay

Thanks Jay and all for this discussion.
Jay - glad you are feeling a little better. I will reach out to you separately with a recap of the last meeting.

Regarding our November meeting venue - seems we should look for other options.
Perhaps we can use this thread to discuss the criteria we want for our board meetings and then think of ideas for potential locations.
From this discussion it seems we want somewhere quiet.
I and others have said they like the idea of a restaurant or somewhere that already has traffic - because then there is a chance we can attract new people who are passing by or nearby.
And of course we want a location that's centrally located within Kerns. I do think most of us live towards the East side of Kerns - but not all - and of course we do want to attract more people from the West side as well.
So there are several criteria to think of.
Let's throw out some other ideas for venues.
Of course we can always revert to Zoom only - but I think an in-person location would be good.

Sorry to hear what you’ve been going through Jay. Let's hope for a continued smooth recovery!

We can’t be at Pacific Crest next month, so the conversation was about finding an alternate location. A few people expressed interest in having a meeting at a restaurant/pub, and Migration worked decently well last time. But if noise is a concern, then we can just do a virtual meeting. As Dave said, if anyone has ideas/connections elsewhere please speak up!
