Can't quite tell if this is real or not. But the plastic surgeon quoted here says it's real.
The thumbnail sketch is that ski jumpers can't wear oversized outfits. It would create a sail-like effect and allow longer jumps. So the cheat is to enlarge a body part, thus allowing a larger outfit. Not sure what the women do.

It's real, they talked about it several times on the broadcast.  I'm less concerned about that than i am the French skating judge screwing over every other country but France.  Same shit that happened a few Olympics back. Same country. Total BS.

I'm bummed the Olympics are over :/

Im just glad the daughter of a Chinese dissident won the women's figure skating gold! The water crying at the Star Spangled Banner when she was presented the medal... so proud of those great Americans

G, for years I've always preferred events that involved measurable results. All these judged events are just a little sketchy for my taste.
Ice skating, of all the judged events, seems to be the one most mired in bias. I've never heard of people whining about the gymnastic scoring in the summer Olympics. I don't know how the skating gets judged; but in some events the high/low scores are tossed. That can often eliminate the biased scores.

There was a LOT to be proud of. Best showing ever at a winter olympics for the states. Sweeping the hockey...Alysan Liu (whom you mentioned), who is now my favorite olympian.....Shiffrin finally putting it together in the olympics. The gold medal winner on the big air half pipe (I think that was the event), Alex Ferrier (think that is his name) will be the best man at my cousin's wedding this summer.  The 40+ year old bobsledding mom......Breezy getting engaged after winning a gold.......*sigh* so awesome.

I wasn't crying when half the arena was singing the anthem at the US mens hockey gold ceremony at the top of their lungs.....i just have a cold.

There were TWO 40+ bobsledding women. Bobsled is akin to NASCAR; the driving is the big thing. Not a surprise that people can do this past their thirties.
As long as you have the body strength to get the sled  pushed at the start, drivers don't have to be kids.
The US even medaled in cross country events. Now as a 2A supporting, gun loving nation, we ought to get SOMEONE to compete in biathlon.
