For all of Cheney's faults, and he had many, he still put his country first. So does Liz. So did H.W., so did W., so did Dole, Reagan, etc. 

A stark reminder of the difference between the old guard conservatives and whatever the Trump Party is calling itself these days.

G, this is a real truth for sure. During the Cowboys game the  other day, the camera showed a shot of Bush 43 and spouse. I really didn't think much of him at the time for a LOT of reasons; but compared to this cult................... oy vey.

Even at the time when W was making decisions that I thought were less than prudent...i never for a second thought that he was this giant blubbering idiot like the left tried to portray him.

And i certainly never questioned where his first priority rested. 

I've always been an independent since i was first able to register to vote, and the reason for that is that I wanted an open mind when studying the ideas of people on both sides of the aisles who, in their own way, had different ideas for helping the most Americans be successful. When you approach things that way, you can debate IDEAS and POLICIES. Sure, you will have politicians bending the truth to try and convince you of their ideas....but you didn't have to doubt from whence their ideas came. 

Trump is the first elected President in my lifetime that does NOT put the betterment of the American people as his primary goal. This yields any and all policies or ideas pretty much moot when debating their ability to reach a goal that isn't really a goal. If they actually do help the country....it's by accident, and must only have been borne because it helps HIM first.  

These are unpresidented times (see what i did there?).

Marjorie Greene is emerging as a voice of reason. It's almost Kafkaesque in its weirdness. 

I could take a Pepto and swallow hard and abide by MAGA; except for their immense immorality, cruelty, venality, tolerance of racism, etc. On second thought, I can't abide by them.

Did you state that preference while forgetting their vicious attacks on immigrants? You were pretty passionate about that issue. 

Anyway, Dick's death matters little to me. What I noticed however was the immediate vitriol directed at his daughter from your chosen cult, the MAGA's. Another example of why they can't be abided.

No government of any country should EVER be aligned with ANY religion. Period. Full stop. End of story. QED. etc etc.

As to political and economic governance, the American experiment....which is teetering, but will probably survive its first would-be dictator....is proof so far that a democratic republic with somewhat unfettered capitalist markets will provide the most benefit to the largest majority of its citizens over the long haul.

The point is that one's religion doesn't automatically confer a certain kind of behavior or political stance. Just because Mamdani is Muslim doesn't mean he's going to usher in Sharia law or any kind of fascism. Such thinking of offensively prejudiced. Perhaps you G, could ask BK to provide a SHRED of evidence suggesting that Michigan/Wisconsin/NYC are headed toward a domestic version of Iran/Afghanistan. Even those shitholes have democratic govt's. 

Perhaps in the meantime we can compare their standard of living, or some other metric, to such staunchly Christian places as Alabama, Texas, Mississippi. etc. The "Bible Belt" so greatly exceeds the rest of the country in..................  not much, unless you include NASCAR (and college football). 

And as a fine example of BK's attention REALITY, Michigan went to Trump in 2024. Praise Allah.
