Yes, with 2 speed boats and some u na ounted for mines. Meanwhile the IRGC is becoming increasingly Isolated and paranoid. Things will probably get worse before the get better. The end of crazy dictarships is seldom clean and even but its almost a good thing.

Be nice, even when you don't want to!

Not interested in your prognostication, Brian. I want know how you would plan to end the "Islamofascists" that haunt your waking hours.
And as for HOW Iran closes the Strait, that matters little. The fact is that they CAN. We have half the US Navy out there; and they get it done with a few inflatable rafts.
Reading  up shows that the Strait is like 30 miles wide. However, there are only two navigable channels, each about two miles wide. Not a lot of territory to make impassible.
Did we forget Afghanistan? We had them outgunned a billion to three. And we couldn't subdue the Taliban. (And PLEASE don't embarrass yourself by mentioning our leaving. It has nothing to do with this topic an has been hashed to death). Asymmetric warfare is a bitch. The US has been taught this fact more than a couple of times. And we're learning it again. If our conflict with Iran was just a matter of subduing their nation, no problem. But there is so much economic/political complexity involved that Iran can hold their own without a lot of firepower. And they likely still have that 600 kilos of 60% uranium that they refined when TRUMP was in power. Can't be used for a bomb; but it could contaminate a whole lot Tel Aviv or New York. Don't need no nukes.
Come up with a plan for us, please.

What's ironic (if Mel Gibson's The Patriot is even a tiny bit to be believed) is that the America's own independence owes a lot to asymmetric warfare. Well, that and the French.

That movie is one of my guilty pleasures.....historical accuracy aside. Not sure why some of our greatest talents have to also be such blithering assholes...but Mel Gibson is a great example. He's terrific in that movie.

And remember...."It's only treason if you lose".

Yeah, it's fun. He went through a period there where he basically made the same movie four or five times set in different eras -- The Patriot, Braveheart, We Were Soldiers, Hamlet (the last having an earlier ghost writer, I understand...)

I remember well....all of those movies have merit. I thought his Hamlet was actually really good.

Braveheart was fantastic...if you took it for what it was and didn't get caught up in the inaccuracies. Plus...Sophia Marceau....yum.

I saw We Were Soldiers...it blended into the other war movies i'd seen, not really standing out. But i did read some articles around the time from war vets who stated that it was the movie that most closely resembled their actual experiences, for whatever that's worth.

Trivia tidbit: Braveheart holds the record for most human buttocks displayed on screen at one time.

So there ya go!

Great posts G and DF. It is too bad that Mel is such an anti-Semite. His stuff is so good.
Was Braveheart not that true to history? I thought it was sort of accurate

As for the Revolution, Bill Cosby had a great riff on that. (Sorry to mention another talented/despicable person). He talked about the rules of battle. "The British will wear red outfits, march in open fields and walk stand in a straight line. The Colonials can wear dull clothing and shoot from behind rocks and trees." It was funny back in the day.

Sort of accurate, yeah....in that there was a William Wallace and he was a central figure in the Scottish uprising against British rule.

That's about it, from what i've read.
