So THIS is TDS on full display. Trump inserting himself into a tragic death. Baseless claims that Reiner was somehow mentally ill (always with the self-reflection). No, but his son was seriously affected by drug abuse. But Trump can't stop himself from inserting himself into every topic. And he can't help himself from taking digs at those that criticized him. No sympathy, no 'thought's and prayers". Just the opposite.

THIS is TDS. A deranged man saying deranged things. It's bad enough that even many Republicans are sick of his commentary.
So NOW we know what derangement related to Trump really looks like
No "what-about-ism". Time to own this man's sickness.
Recall the relatively benign commentary after Charlie Kirk's killing. People pointed out the obvious truths about him. That was enough to engender death threats. It was inappropriate. But leading Democrats didn't make those comments. Here we have the leader of the US, the leader of the Republican Party, the putative leader of the free world making outlandish and FALSE statements.
Trump is sui generis. That's Latin for "sick as shit".

A good recent piece on the coarsening of discourse in the US. It was pointed out that Trump isn't the cause of this sickness. But he is like the mosquito that spreads malaria or the flea that spreads plague (maybe more like the rat that carries the flea). He's an opportunist that uses this trend to his advantage. Instead of using his immense influence to counter this trend, he amplifies it at every opportunity.
This was a great example,  perhaps the best.

Trump is a plague-carrying rat.

I think that Trump had Rob and wife murdered and is framing Rob's son.  Just a gut instinct, but my instincts are usually right.

I like this post CL Not so sure about the first.
But it's not beyond the realm of credibility. More likely though, if Trump was in on it, he'd have had them deported.
I never thought of Carl as more than a decent person with pretty good chops for acting, producing, etc. Yes, he supported Liberal causes. That was what got him killed (s).
But the article is about Trump and his heinous comments.
Like I said, he's the rat that carries the fleas that spreads the plague of incivility.
Problem is, when a POTUS replaces him that is way more civil, they won't be able to do a lot to change things. Kind hearted civil behavior is BORING and gets drowned out on social media.
It may be difficult or almost so to put this genie back in the bottle.

I dont like condone or excuse what Trump said. It was despicable. But then Reiner said despicable things about Trump so I'm not surprised he couldn't keep his fly trap shut.

The big difference is that what Trump said about Reiner, and says about ANYONE that criticizes him, are usually lies. What is said about him is demonstrably TRUE. That's a distinction that Trump and his cultists can never wrap their pea brains around. Need an example? Read your post.
Typical what-about-ism.
Nothing that Trump said about Reiner is even remotely attached to reality. What it is attached to is the rantings of really disturbed man that attacks anyone that doesn't pay homage (and often tribute) to him.

You really have a fence picket stuck far up your ass. Sitting there too long.
When you say that Trump "can't keep his fly shut", you're offering an excuse. That's an equivocation. If the President of the US is that incapable of self-censorship then he doesn't belong in office. Period. And people in MAGA make the same excuses for him. "Oh, that's just Trump being Trump". No, that's Trump being a fucking asshole. And his entire public life is replete with examples of the same. So by letting him off the hook with that weak tea, you encourage/condone his behavior. No other way to slice this salami.
I'm assuming that when you said, "can't keep his fly shut" you meant his mouth rather than his zipper. He can't keep that shut either it appears.

Its not an excuse its an observation and I didn't vote for him ever because I thought he would be a terrible President.

You voted for him by not voting for the only other candidate who had a chance to get elected. Not voting or voting "other" was a vote for Trump. It's just that simple. Rationalize all you want if it makes you feel better. But if you KNEW that he'd be a bad choice (and his first term pretty much told you that), then it behooved you to act on that.
If you observe the scorpion stinging the frog as they cross the stream and your response is, "well that's what scorpions do", you're passively condoning the behavior. This is especially true for a HUMAN; who is assumed to have the capacity to improve. By shrugging off Trump's behavior as, "well that's what scorpions do" is to accept that he's incapable of being different or better. If that's your take then you should be screaming that he is incapable of being  POTUS, that he lacks ANY quality that the office holder should possess.
Haven't heard that  from you. And your passivity IS condoning.

Voting Libertarian is as useful as buying a lottery ticket. It's like masturbation; you feel better while getting nothing done.
Feel better?

Well yeah I didn't for any of the dumpster fires that ran for office. You voted for one of them.

Be nice, even when you don't want to!

Too bad a few million more didn't join me. Imagine how much better things would be.
We'd have a POTUS that was respectable and respected. We wouldn't have a person on a protracted revenge mission. We wouldn't have a person using every lever of power to prosecute every perceived enemy. We wouldn't have a person appointing election deniers to jobs everywhere. We wouldn't have a person appointing obviously incompetent people to offices all over the gov't. His latest app't was a FEMA position given to someone who doesn't know ANYTHING about FEMA and doesn't like the agency. The same over and over. We wouldn't have a person who pardoned hundreds of people that stormed the US Capitol in an effort to prevent the orderly procedures of the gov't.
The list is long.
But as long as you feel good for wasting your vote and and your time. Until things change a LOT, voting will be binary. You vote for the BETTER of two choices. Not voting, or voting for a third choice only serves to help the WORSE of the two choices. If you thought that Trump was a crazed psychopath with autocratic aspirations and Harris was  less than ideal, you should have chosen.
Another example of having a fence stake up your ass.

Libertarian with a the understanding that if we have open borders we will end up with a nation none of you or I would want to live in. So sneer if you want. I vote Liberatrian because its the closes thing available to what I want. Not because it perfectly matches my desires.
