considering KWS

Hi everyone, I have been looking around trying to understand if a KWS system would meet my needs and I have some questions that I for some reason I have not been able to clearly understand, would love if someone shortly explained.

1) What is the advantage of a KWS system over creating a decoder and looking for the key words in the recognition? Will the KWS system give me probabilities for the key words even if they where not recognised?

2) Does Kaldi currently support online an online KWS system? i.e adding a KWS system to the output of an online decoder?

3) Do KWS tend to be directed for a very small set of key phrases/words or can a KWS system be good for tens or hundreds of key phrases/words?

Hi, 

1) good KWS can search the lattice, not just the 1-best

2) no

3) the first is usually called "hotword detection", the second is called KWS. I think there is now functionality for both approaches in kaldi
