HNY All!

I haven't seen this mentioned here yet, but for those running the RX-888, there is a new system that is so cool I can't put it into words.  It wraps so much into one app I may be retiring many of my other go to SDR apps and hardware.

It's composed of two docker images to support KA9Q-Radio and another for the UI, decoding and processing.  There are also standalone clients for Windows and Linux, which I've yet to play with that offer various audio and CAT interfaces and SDC TCI connectivity, something I've been looking to see supported in the opensource SDR realm.  See https://www.lw-sdc.com/ for more on add-ons.

I've spun up docker and when I'm not testing/playing/restarting the images, you can check the receiver UI here:

but also check out some cool metrics and analytics at:

There are only a select few others running this found here:

Yep....I stumbled upon this about 10 days ago.  I'm not very skilled with Linux, but there is a one-line installation script near the bottom of the ubersdr.org page that works with a clean Debian or Ubuntu install.

Mine's visible at:
and reporting spots as K3GMQ

Dan, your noise floor is glorious.  I would never have known the bands were so alive until I checked your SDR.  What kind of antenna are you using?

Pretty cool. This is exactly what I hoped would happen when I started ka9q-radio -- somebody would put a really good UI on it.

i was about to say the same thing. Looking from out here in southern California, most of what i see are switching power supplies, CFLs, Solar Edge optimizers...the works.

Do you have a reference? You're about 25 Hz high on chu at 7850.

Noise floor signature shows it to be on a ham-band matched antenna so poorer antenna factor out-of-band.

Haven't yet found how to turn down the averaging to get faster real time display of noise floor which will reveal more about quality of the system. Smooth makes it even slower.

Haven't yet found color min/max adjustments to optimize weak signal view. minimum isn't black where the high contrast works well.

Thanks for the compliment on the noise floor.  Honestly I am never happy with it.  I do my best to suppress household interference, but it's a never-ending battle. The current antenna is a simple 130 ft long so-called end-fed half-wave, not particularly high, ranging from 10 ft at the feedpoint to about 30 or 40 ft at the far end.  I also use one of the Turn Island Systems shelving filter/amps in front of the RX-888 to roll-off the MF and low-HF signals somewhat.  This also gives some gain above 10MHz and has a 30 MHz LPF.  Overall well suited for the RX-888 in this application (see KA7OEI blog posts on this).

I have some dedicated receive-only antennas in the yard, including an LZ1AQ small loop and a N6GN Hi-Z vertical dipole.  Both of them work better for LF/MF DX'ing, but never match the end-fed for HF FT8 and WSPR spotting.

Hi, Phil.
Yes, I do feed both my RX-888 from a dual-output Leo Bodnar 1421.  The RX-888 that is on the ubersdr instance reports spots as K3GMQ, the other one is on a wsprdaemon install and reports as K3GMQ-B.  Offhand, they both look in line with the mainstream on wspr.rocks.
