Any Info on when the next supported release of K-9 Mail will be available on Google Play?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if and when a new supported release of K-9 Mail will be available on Google Play and what might be in that release?  According Google Play there has not been a release of this app since September of 2018 and I'm concerned that developed has ceased.  Can anyone give me any details on the app?

The most substantial visible changes are a new user interface and better OpenPGP+Autocrypt support. It's missing some features too (IMAP IDLE, I think) so it will be released when it's ready, but it's on the way.

Thanks for the update.  Can you tell me whether there are any other enhancements to the product?  Someone suggested that I look at FairMail as an alternative to K-9 Mail as it too offers the ability to have a different inbound and outbound mail server.  Supposedly FairMail takes up less memory, uses less power and has some functionality to prevent advertisements that have tracking capability from functioning.  I've used K-9 Mail for years and it has severed me well but with no release in over a year I was getting concerned that it had become and unsupported app.  Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
