Hello! I just attended the first Picademy held in the US this weekend. (Was anybody else there? Hi!) It was a very valuable experience for me as far as learning more about Raspberry Pi, IoT, programming in Python, and generally planning and facilitating electronics/coding projects with kids. I highly recommend applying! Attendance is free if you are accepted. It's held at the Computer History Museum which is also super neat. The next one is coming up at the end of April and educators can apply now:

Sarah, were there many people not from the Bay Area at the Picademy?

All over: New Jersey, Puerto Rico, Colorado, Michigan, Utah, Texas, Southern California, etc. I drove up from LA and it was well worth the trip.

There's going to be an East Coast Raspberry Picademy on August 13-14 in Baltimore, Maryland. https://www.raspberrypi.org/picademy/usa/dhf/ Just wanted to post this in case anyone in the eastern US was interested!

I second this recommendation. This was a pd where I was constantly challenged. If you are new it can be tailored to newbie projects if you want to make a raspberry pi use a text to speech engine to tell geeky joke and then take a photo of you laughing and tweet it, it can be tailored to you. Great community and the raspi is such an amazing project for k-12. Highly recommended! Apply early!
