I wanted to reach out to this group to spread the word about a new professional development workshop we are planning on running at Dawson School in Colorado next summer.

The registration is now live and capped at 20 participants so please share with anyone you think might be interested in this type of workshop focused on intermediate to advanced makerspace educators.

Dawson MakerEd Jam 2025
Come spend a week dreaming, collaborating, and building with other maker educators in Dawson School’s Makerspace in Lafayette, Colorado. Our goal is to create a supportive environment for exploration, tinkering, and learning. Let's learn from one another and dive into some large-scale projects.

Is anyone planning on going to this? It sounds terrific.

Hello everyone,

Nice to meet you! My name is Glo, a new bilingual teacher. All these workshops and maker retreats sound brilliant and I would love to bring these mindsets & tools back to my classroom.

However, does anyone have advice on financial aid / affording these experiences?

Thank you!

Warm regards,
Glo

Hi everyone,
This is the first year for our Dawson MakerEd Jam and we would LOVE to welcome you all to our Makerspace this coming June. That said, I have already received feedback that the timing in early June doesn't work for many teachers who are often not out for summer until close to the start of July. For 2025, we are committed to our dates of June 9-13. However, we are very open to shifting the timing and taking other feedback we receive to make the Dawson MakerEd Jam something that more folks can attend (and better in ways we can't yet know).

If anyone has other suggestions for improving the logistics, please feel free to make suggestions here or you can email me directly at jelle...@dawsonschool.org

If you are considering coming to our MakerEd Jam for this coming here, we are offering $100 off the cost of registration (early-bird) up until Dec. 31, 2024. You can learn more and register at https://sites.google.com/dawsonschool.org/makerspace-resources/home/pd-workshops/dawson-makered-jam

Have a great day!

Jeff
