Hi FabLab!

I have the dullest question ever.

I just got permitted to buy a color laser printer. I know it's not fancy like cnc cutters or 3D printers, but it is the best we can do.

Here is what I need it to do.

Duplex printing
Good quality color on cardstock
reasonably priced toner
will last a few years in heavy rotation.

You can rely privately or publicly, but honesty is what I need right now. Thanks so much,

For color printing, we have moved away from laser printers to full MFP devices. It may or may not be the right thing depending on your specific needs, budget, and IT requirements around management, but we have several Lexmark CX725 multi-function printers in service and we love them.

Well yes, I meant to say, we have moved away from simple printers in favor of multi-function printers.... :)

I should say, a budget device, max 1K including toner. This is just for 1 classroom, I don't need fancy, I need colorful but dull.  Susie (:

Hi Susie!
I met you at the Creative Educators Event :)
Here's my take
I have an HP 4201 that IT allowed me to purchase with CTE funds. It is around 500. I love laser printers and print worksheets and docs on it. It's my staple.
BUT.... refill cartridges are about $300, so make sure you have an annual budget for cartridges. And don't get knock off brands.
I have a permanent magenta line on all of my docs now because I got a cheaper NON - HP cartridges.
I am building an array of Epson Ecotank printers that my HS students use and the ink is much cheaper and provide better results for photography assignments.
Cheers,
Amy
