Ooo! Just released at Scratch Day@MIT

ScratchX allows you to try out experimental extensions to the Scratch programming environment. With extensions, you can connect Scratch to the physical world (such as electronic devices and kits) and online resources (including web data and web services).

Finally a way for developers to share their Scratch extensions and experimental projects.

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing Jaymes!! I will add it to the software list.

I have not been able to make it work. I see the Arduino blocks in the "more blocks" tab, but the yellow dot is on telling me the board isn't connected. I installed the hardware plugin. Tried different boards, reinstalled drivers, rebooted computer, etc.  the IDE is talking to the board. The text to speech experimental extension is working fine (and the littleBits Arduino worked for me too.)

Suggestions?

Okay, meant to post this earlier today.

This is how I got it to work: http://khanning.github.io/scratch-arduino-extension/

Oh and BTW, I found that URL by CTRL-Clicking on the Arduino link on the Scratchx site. The documentation is great...if you can find it!

It does work though. Bummer is that it seems like it's a similar thing to S4A. So you have to load the Arduino with the Standard Firmata Firmware. And it only works tethered.

Also, make sure you enable your plug-ins and if you're using Chome you have to do this:
On Chrome, you'll need to enable NPAPI plugins. Go to chrome://flags/#enable-npapi and click enable:

Also note that you don't have to use the Grove shield. And since it works using Standard Firmata, it should work with most Arduino boards (including lilypad etc)

I did find that page as well. Tried those instructions and it's working, kinda. Really touchy.

It only works for me when I click on the examples code at the bottom of that page. If I go to the scratchx page directly, it shows the board is not connected (and there are no motion blocks in the motion palette.)

I'm pretty sure it will get better!

it also needs to work more than once in a row without rebooting everything...
