I'm using Jupyter to run notebooks on a server in a distant place. I usually use an ssh tunnel to have the connection to the server.
Most of the time I have long running jobs, because I crunch data.
On thing that is really inconvenient for me, is that if I loose the connection (I have to close my laptop, or my internet connection get lost which can happens a lot here), when I connect again to the notebook and to the kernel, later on, I don't have the outputs from the cells (neigther their execution number and so on).
So it's quite a missing feature for me to notebooks. On reconnection, they should be able to ask for past events and update accordingly (maybe after a validation from the user).
I immagine an extension of the same mechanism could also help two person working on a same notebook from two computers having live updates on their notebooks (I'm not talking on instant live updates as you type but updates after cell execution).
Before filling up a feature request I would like to ask on this list if other person encounter this problem. Also maybe someone could point me to a trick to do that, or to some plugins already implementing this…
