We have just published a release candidate for notebook 5.1.0. This release introduces i18n (internationalization) support, RTL (right-to-left) support, and several important bug fixes. See a list of PRs in this release.

Please give it a try:

pip install notebook --pre --upgrade

Note that you will need to restart the notebook server and possibly hard-refresh any open notebook tabs in your browser (or clear your browser's cache) after upgrading to ensure that you are running 5.2.0rc1.

We hope to release 5.1.0 by Thursday.

Feel free to provide feedback here or by creating an issue on Github.

Thanks!

EDIT: References to "5.1.0" should be "5.2.0"

Very excited to hear about internationalization support! Thanks to

Heads up, I'm not sure that the internationalisation is actually functional yet, but we have one translation (Chinese, thanks to Github user jianzi123), along with preliminary machinery for handling translations (thanks to John Emmons at IBM). I'm hoping to find time post 5.2 to work on loading the translations on demand.
