jupyterlab beta issue: You have been rate limited by GitHub! You will need to wait about an hour...

I'm trying out the new jupyterlab beta 0.32.1

I tried the github tab but I don't get a chance to do anything with it because shortly after starting up it displays the octopus-cat-whatever icon and says:

"You have been rate limited by GitHub! You will need to wait about an hour before continuing".

When I started up jupyterlab this morning I saw a menu of my github repo's and then before I could react - the message above.

Once I log in to github using a separate browser tab the issue resolved itself in the jupyterlab github tab and I saw my repos again.

I guess I switched from the 60 requests/hour limit to the 5000 requests/hour limit by logging in to github.com

To avoid the rate limiting you'll need to install the python (serverextension) package, create an access token and specify it in your notebook config file.
