Hi everyone,

I just deployed a JupyterHub server on the AWS EC2. JupyterHub is running good but I am not able to login in the JupyterHub.
I do not know what is my username and password as an admin user. I do not know what is my Unix credentials since I do not use any accounts and password to access my aws ec2 server.

You won't be able to login unless you have created users with passwords on the machine. JupyterHub does not create any users. Unless you have set up the EC2 machine with users that have passwords, no users will be able to login with JupyterHub.

Or you can configure Jupyterhub to use an alternative authentication mechanism, e.g. Github OAuth:

Thank you so much for providing me the hint. I successfully logged into jupyterhub by creating multiple ec2 system user with password. Work like charm.
Have a great day

Yeah. That can solve my problem. My project does not require me to create a very good user login system..It may cost lots of time to configure.
Thank you for pointing out.

I have the same problem, but I create the users and passwords (I use a SSH connection with ec2-user, and from it I execute adduser/passwd to create the users. The created users can access to the server via SSH, but are rejected by the login page of jupyterhub.
When you say creating multiple ec2 system user are you saying what I do or talking about IAM users (from the AWS console)?
Is there any additional configuration required?
TIA,

By the way, where did you get the deploying instructions? The github docs are scarce, at least for me.

Hi Diego,

Have you seen the Getting Started section of the GitHub docs? https://github.com/jupyter/jupyterhub/blob/master/docs/getting-started.md

Please ask again if you have more questions.

Warmly,
Carol

Hi Carol!

Thank you for your help. I've been doing a lot of try & error research, and finally I've got it.

I must say that, once I have the big picture, I think the info about JupyterHub in GitHub is very spare and confusing.

I've made a recipe for putting it to work from a particular environment, (the AWS one), and I've sen't it to the Issues tab in GitHub. Maybe it can help to others or to improve the docs.

Thank you again,
