It's been suffering a bit lately, and often doesn't work. I suspect people are using up the available server capacity it runs on. We're not in control of mybinder - it was built by a team at Janelia Research Campus.

While we don't manage Binder, we are in the early phases of working with the Binder folks in conjunction with the Berkeley Institute for Data Science (BIDS) on a long-term sustainability plan for Binder. We're hoping to have a more sustainable solution sooner than later since we know that a number of folks rely on this service.

Kind Regards,
Jamie

Jamie,

It's great news that Binder will have a plan to be stable in the long-term!

We have been using Binder to introduce the US Integrated Ocean Observing System community to the power of Jupyter notebooks, but due to the reliability issues had been casting around for other solutions such as http://everware.xyz/.

But we would love to stick with Binder!

Love seeing you mention everware. Just wanted to point out that in terms of compute power to back a public service everware is probably in an even worse position than mybinder. If you have resources locally to host an instance it might be a good choice for you though.
