JypterHub proxy question: Do I need nginx if I'm okay with configurable-http-proxy?

I'm trying to follow the "ground-up" instructions here:


They seem to imply that I need nginx if I don't want to have users connect to port 8000. I'm not sure that I'm interpreting it correctly, though. What's the role of nginx if configurable-http-proxy is already doing the reverse proxying?
