Hi
Looking for comments again on Begum’s Millions. While I'm mostly interested in city/mill design, which I believe has a very strong linkage from multiple sources, I have been very fascinated by Krupp's character links to Verne’s plot.
Going back to following some essential leads to primary sources and testing the basic premise that Verne used Krupp for character Schultze and the possible incorporation of Krupp’s plot etc
Some new leads for me on Begum’s Millions (Luce Transtation) – any ideas comments?
NOTE Chapter 5 note 5 “ “Indeed Krupp was the for Schultze in a letter to Hetzel, verne writes: “What shall we about the Krupp factory now, as it is really Krupp who is in play here, and his factory that is so forbidden to indiscreet eyes” Verne to Hetzel Sept 1 1878” “
From Correspondance inédite de Jules Verne et de Pierre-Jules Hetzel—is this book available in digital
Chapter 5 note 1- offer evidence Stahlstadt factory descriptions may have come from Victor Tissot "The Prussians in Germany" by Victor Tissot, published in Paris in 1876. I just purchased this book but I will need help from the University of Michigan to translate it. I have teamed up with a French translator to cover this weakness in my future research efforts.
