There are a number of reasons for this most notably a) my grandfather
who died "within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test" which was not
helped by me actually suffering from the virus at the same time and b)
me standing for election to the Welsh Senedd. Those elections conclude
next Friday (or at least we hope so given the fact that what should take
12 hours could have the potential to last for 16 hours over two days)
and from then on, aside from slight injections of archive general
elections and an absolutely needed six week respite from care from July
to September I will be getting back into the Verne swing of things and
answering two questions:
1) Could Phileas travel around the world in less than eighty days even
with all the current restrictions? and
2) Could someone from the 17th century travel around the world in less
than eight hundred days?
This second question will form the base of the fourth in an increasingly
inaccurate labelled trilogy of books featuring the son of a Welsh MP who
is sent to France to become a Musketeer and has seen him a) become a
Musketeer, b) try to save the life of the Duke of Buckingham and save
the life of his intended and c) take part in a 17th century version of
the Olympics.

A lot of jurisdictions are requiring foreign travellers to quarantine themselves for two weeks on arrival in a country, so that would make a round the world trip using only surface transportation problematic these days. If you allow for air travel, it would be easy.
On #2, Francis Drake did it in a little over 1000 days, in the 16th century. Allowing for better 17th century maps allowing for a more direct route, and taking less time off for plundering Spanish shipping and towns along the way, I think 800 days would be quite doable.
