A top-tier congressional campaign in North Carolina mountains is looking for an on-site, full time field director.

The Field Director is responsible for helping to plan and execute the campaign’s field strategy in the district. in communities across the district. You will recruit, train, and manage volunteer leaders and organize and direct 
the entire field infrastructure of the campaign. This position reports to the Campaign Director.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Drafting and executing a comprehensive, data-driven field plan focused on persuasion and GOTV of Democrats, Unaffiliateds and Republicans.
  • Draft and prioritize a field budget with collaboration with senior staff.
  • Build and manage field staff consisting of county coordinators, field organizers, and hundreds of volunteers.
  • Motivate field staff to perform and meet weekly goals
  • Set, meet, and achieve goals for direct voter contact, volunteer recruitment, grassroots engagement, vote pledges, and GOTV. 
  • Design and standardize best practices for data management using NGP/VAN, Excel, and NationBuilder
  • Establish a strong professional culture within the field organization that focuses on accountability, goal-hitting metrics, utilization of best practices, engagement, and sense of purpose
  • Establish and manage the field program’s budget and logistics in collaboration with Campaign Director

Field Director Qualifications:

  • At least two cycles of field experience.
  • Experience managing and training high performing volunteers and staff
  • Experience with and ability to train NGP/VAN. Experience with NationBuilder and setting up auto-dialers and predictive is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to design, maintain and improve a goal-oriented accountability structure
  • Understanding of voter penetration and micro-targeting
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; successful at motivating staff to meet recruitment and voter contact goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent deadlines
  • Applicants must be highly organized and have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced campaign environment.
  • Access to reliable transportation required
