The National Organization for Women (NOW)’s Digital Communications Fellowship is a part-time, year-long (fall and spring semester) program for individuals interested in deepening their knowledge base and skill set in digital communications for a social justice organization.
NOW is dedicated to intersectional grassroots activism to lead societal change, promote feminist ideals and eliminate discrimination. The Digital Communications Fellow (DCF) will work with the NOW National Action Program staff, assisting in the implementation of the five National Action Program campaigns: Mobilize for Reproductive Justice, End the Criminalization of Trauma, Ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, Protect Immigrant Rights, and Advance Voting Rights. The DCF will report to and be directly supervised by the National Action Program Manager.
The Fellow should be willing to commit to both the fall and spring semester, and able to work around 20 hours per week.
Design and create dynamic graphic content for NOW’s national website and upcoming campaigns
Help craft an aesthetic narrative for upcoming campaigns including reproductive justice, voting rights, and the 2018 election cycle.
Assist National Action Program in producing and promoting educational outreach material for our grassroots chapters and state organizations
Assisting in the production of videos, webinars, and blog posts raising awareness of the issues covered in NOW's national action campaigns
Other duties and projects as assigned
Graduate student with a concentration in Communications, Graphic Design or a related field
2+ years of graphic design experience (professional experience may be supplemented through academic experience)
Mastery of Adobe CS, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
Proficient experience with social media marketing and engagement for digital platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and Snapchat.
Video-editing skills a plus!
Basic knowledge of NOW's core social justice issues
Highly organized, attention to detail and adherence to deadlines
Sense of humor, creative energy, proactive, and problem solving skills
Enjoys working independently, as well as in a team
Ability to work well with a wide array of diverse individuals across age, race, socio-economic, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity and other lines
This part time fellowship provides a $1300 monthly stipend.
