The Ross Barkan for State Senate campaign seeks a Finance
Director. The position will initially be part time at 15-20 hrs/wk but will
soon phase into a full-time position. The ideal
applicant has a basic knowledge of finance operations. Applicant must
be extroverted and exceptionally well organized. Applicant should identify as a
self-starter, capable of working independently in a fast-paced political
environment. The ideal applicant will have a minimum of some experience in
campaign finance operations, including call time management, event
management (large scale events, mid-level fundraisers and house parties), and
donor research.
The Finance Director will report to both the Candidate and the Campaign
Advisor.
Primary Responsibilities
- Fundraising Plan: Implement fundraising plan that relies on direct mail solicitations, candidate phone calls, online fundraising, fundraising events and small fundraising events. Prepare weekly call lists and manage the candidate to ensure call time is prioritized and that fundraising goals are met. This will also include maintaining and expanding a "Finance Committee" comprised of donors through emails, calls, meetings.
- Data management: Manage and update donor research and history database. Prepare weekly call lists.
- Events: Negotiate logistics for fundraising events and work with vendors, and hosts to maximize all events.
- List Maintenance: Maintain and operate email lists and email
blast system for low dollar.
Necessary Skills
- Excellent personal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Superior project management skills.
- Fundraising prowess. Understand how both low and high-dollar fundraising works.
- Understanding of New York City/State election law is very beneficial.
