California Calls is a growing alliance of 30 grassroots, community-based organizations spanning urban, rural and suburban counties across the state. We are building a movement of voters using our power to create laws that work for ALL Californians – not just corporations or the richest 1%. We engage, educate and motivate new and infrequent voters among young people, from communities of color, and from poor and working-class neighborhoods to make California’s electorate reflect our state’s diverse population. Our goal is to achieve the systemic change our communities need.
Strategic Communications is a critical strategy that complements our on-the-ground organizing. The purpose of this component is to shape a narrative that shifts broad public consciousness about the role of government and civic participation and to develop vehicles to reach 10,000s and 100,000s of people. Ultimately we seek to build a political pole and formal bloc of voters that shares values of equity, justice and inclusion and consistently participates at deeper levels by voting and holding elected officials accountable.
The Strategic Communications Director develops and implements California Calls narrative and communications strategy, to elevate and advance California Call’s vision for building grassroots power to create systemic change.
The Strategic Communications Director also works with California Calls’ staff and coalition members to raise the profile of campaigns with key audiences including the media, new and infrequent voters, movement allies, state & local decision makers and donors.
