Digital Media Manager

Incoming New York State Senator Sean Ryan seeks candidates for the position of Digital Media Manager to execute the office’s social media presence and digital strategy. This position will be based in Buffalo and will be full-time. Candidates should have a strong understanding of social media platforms and an ability to think creatively and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. This position reports to the Senator and Chief of Staff and will work closely with the Communications Director and Press Secretary. Western New York ties are a plus.

Responsibilities

·         Development and daily execution of the office’s digital strategy

·         Creating social media posts, compelling graphics, engaging videos, captioned clips, policy based blog posts, informative newsletters, and well written video scripts

·         Coordinate with communications and policy team to curate content

·         Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

·         Ability to think strategically to advance priorities of the Senator.

·         Thorough knowledge of social media platforms, communications strategy as well as legislative and non-legislative issues

·         Experience with photo and video editing

·         Ability to evaluate current events

·         Excellent writing and editing skills

·         Ability to self-motivate, think creatively, and problem solve

·         Works well under pressure, stress, tight deadlines and long hours

·         Strong multi-tasking capacity

·         Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with others.

Qualifications

·         Prior communications, social media, or government experience is encouraged

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Communications, Public Policy, Graphic Design or related field

Salary Range: $40,000 – $50,000, commensurate with experience.
