DESCRIPTION:
Progressive Brooklyn Council Member seeks a Legislative Director with some communications responsibilities.
This position will handle committee assignments, manage committee responsibilities, and help to communicate successes in both of these areas to constituents.
Responsibilities:
Advance the Council Member's legislative agenda through strategic policy development and advocacy
Develop and maintain relationships with key policy and advocacy thought leaders
Ensure policy implementation through regulatory advocacy
Manage in-District special projects, including land use applications and planning studies
Work closely with communications director to develop compelling narratives around policy and budget campaigns
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
2-5 years of policy and advocacy experience
Strong analytical, research and writing skills
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Tenacious spirit and a good sense of humor are a plus
Background in social services, policy analyst, or both a major plus
