Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan and the Office of the Mayor is seeking a Press Secretary with deep communications and media relations experience to help advance the City's policy priorities and serve the public.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Experience working for an elected official, other government official, candidates for public office, or other principal
• Served as an on-the-record spokesperson
• A collaborative, pro-active approach to communications
• A calm, thoughtful approach to communications.

 Job Responsibilities:
To be successful in this role, you have:

• Built relationships with local and national media
• Served as an on-the-record spokesperson
• Helped develop and execute a communications strategy
• Helped advance policy priorities
• Drafted and fact-checked a range of communications materials
• Helped plan, advance, and execute media events
• Helped manage and track incoming media and general communications requests

• Eager to take on new projects and willing to adjust priorities as needed

• Working as an on-the-record spokesperson for a candidate, executive, or official
• Crisis communications
• Building relationships with media

• Working within a communication strategy and advancing policy priorities
• Planning, advancing, and executing media events
