The Texas Gulf Coast Area Labor Federation, AFL-CIO unites 60,000 members of 95 unions to advocate for a living wage, quality benefits, respect on the job, and protections for all working people on the Gulf Coast. The Field Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the ALF electoral program this fall.


RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Electoral Field Organizing 

  • Work with Political Director, labor council officers, the Texas AFL-CIO, and union leaders to implement electoral field operations, including voter registration, member mobilization, worksite political organizing, and other voter engagement tasks

  • Craft scripts, create voter target lists from voter files, and cut turf 

  • Recruit, train, and manage union release staff, volunteer, and temporary paid canvass teams 

  • Oversee distribution of mailers, flyers, and other field materials 

  • Participate in regular political and messaging trainings

Other duties as assigned 


QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Commitment to changing the future of Texas by organizing the power of working families, particularly historically marginalized communities 

  • Demonstrable experience leading field operations for union, community organizing, or political campaigns 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), a voter file system (Voter Action Network or Labor Action Network), graphic design apps, and digital communication tools 

  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete several projects on time simultaneously 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Team management 

  • Ability to travel and work long and flexible hours, including evenings and weekends 

  • Familiarity with the structures and culture of the labor movement 

  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus 


Salary: $4,000/month (This is a contract position)
