Communications Director for New
York State Assembly Member, 149th Assembly District
Summary:
The New York State Assembly Member, 149th Assembly District
is a Progressive Democrat seeking to hire staffer for his District Office and
is seeking an individual to work in a highly collaborative work environment.
Candidate must have an interest in working with the community, possess a
passion for public policy and government, and a knowledge of media practices.
The position will be located in Buffalo, NY.

Primary Duties:

Manage the communication between the Assembly
Member’s office and the community
- ·
Write press releases, letters, newsletters, and
draft speeches for the Member
- ·
Develop and produce content for various
platforms, including TV, print, and digital
- ·
Choreograph press events, including scouting
locations, setting up press conferences, and
- ·
coordinating multiple participants
- ·
Build relationships within the press community
and the community-at-large
- ·
Track media for the office
Additional Duties:
- ·
Act as a community liaison to constituent groups
and for ongoing community projects
- ·
Represent Assembly Member at events and meetings
- ·
Provide direct constituent services
- ·
Work with other staffers to schedule events
- ·
Provide intake for in-person constituent visits
at district office
- ·
General office duties
Skills and Qualifications:
- ·
Excellent writing and communication skills
- ·
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
- ·
A minimum of two years in the field of media or
public relations
- ·
Previous governmental work desired
- ·
Ability to manage and execute numerous projects
simultaneously
- ·
Possess an understanding of the media practices
This is a full-time position. Salary range is low 30s-low
40s depending on experience and full NYS benefits.
