Job Title: Regional Organizing Director
Location: Northfield, MN
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The ROD will direct and manage between 2 and 4 experienced
organizing staff in the implementation of an intensive neighborhood leadership
program as well as building a largescale volunteer operation responsible for
persuasion and voter turnout work.
This position will require a great deal of staff management,
with an emphasis on ongoing developments and mentorship that will allow the
program to grow throughout the campaign.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, manage, and implement a
district organizing program in your designated region. Goals will be
created by field leadership, but you will be responsible for your team
hitting metrics around leader and volunteer recruitment, leadership
development and training, and your region's voter contact program.
- Hire, train, and manage a 2 – 4
person organizing team. In most regions, this will require some remote
management of staff and volunteer leaders. You will be responsible for
supporting your staff members as they figure out the job, strive and
struggle to hit their goals. You should be able to come up with or
facilitate the creation of a hilarious team name.
- Manage political relationships
and community relationships to support the field & political
operations in your region.
- Other duties as needed and
directed by campaign leadership.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 2 cycles political
campaign experience and/or experience in non-profit, community organizing,
and/or educational settings (MN experience a plus);
- Previous management experience
is a huge plus, especially if you’ve been in a middle management role and
understand the unique and wonderful challenges of those positions;
- A healthy competitive spirit.
There will be leaderboards and competitions, no doubt;
- Working to advanced knowledge
of the VAN;
- Capable of writing and adapting
voter contact scripts quickly;
- Experience with large and small
scale trainings;
- Strong interpersonal skills
that includes the ability to speak on behalf of the campaign publicly;
- Ability to manage delicate
social and political relationships;
- Willing to create an atmosphere
of radical hospitality with your staff and volunteers within your region;
- Ability to manage and
prioritize multiple demands and projects. Especially at first, you will be
asked to spin multiple plates at once;
