Public Lands Action Organizer

Help Protect Our Public Lands.

Brass Tactics specializes in building power. We draw on our grassroots organizing background and experience to execute issue and electoral campaigns that tackle the big challenges our clients face. Our team members propel these efforts through their hard work, diverse skills, and commitment to the issues they work on. Another part of our success that sets us apart from the typical political consulting firm is our dedication to a healthy team culture. We’re eager to find a candidate that’s a great fit for our team and this project so we can continue to build on our record of success.

Brass Tactics is seeking experienced campaign staff with at least three full cycles of field or community organizing and event management experience for a non-traditional earned media and advocacy campaign to protect our national parks, monuments, and public lands. The Public Lands Action Organizer will plan and execute event-based earned media tactics targeting issues and officials. Ideal candidates are creative self-starters who believe in the importance of public lands and have experience successfully organizing volunteer driven campaigns.

The Action Organizer is an essential part of a larger campaign whose mission is to hold officials accountable for betraying the public’s trust by selling off America’s public lands and giving away public lands to corporate polluters at the expense of wildlife, recreation, rural economies, and clean air and water.

The Public Lands Action Organizer will be responsible for representing and executing the campaign events. Responsibilities include identifying, contacting and building in-person relationships with local activists and organizations; recruiting and managing volunteers, planning and executing events; tracking key metrics; capturing events on video; and providing accurate reports.

While the Public Lands Action Organizer will be based in Washington, D.C., significant travel around the continental U.S. is required. Candidates must be able to work remotely and independently and travel on short notice.

This is a full-time salaried position beginning in late March, 2018. The position may at times require the Public Lands Action Organizer to work long hours on an irregular schedule that includes evening hours and weekend hours and often on short notice.

Salary is $5000/month and includes health insurance benefits. A monthly local travel stipend of $100 is provided. Brass Tactics will cover non-local travel expenses.
