Save Endangered Animals Oregon is a campaign seeking to place a measure on the November 2016 ballot to ban the sale of parts and products from 12 types of imperiled animals. To qualify for the ballot, SEA Oregon must to collect 120,000 signatures from registered Oregon voters between early April and early July. As part of a team of organizers, SEA Oregon Field Organizers will mobilize in communities to take action to save endangered animals. Organizers will work as part of a team working with the SEA Oregon Deputy Director to meet and exceed weekly and long-term goals. This position is full time for 12 weeks.

Primary Responsibilities:


· Identify Supporters: Through petitioning, organizers will not only gather signatures from supportive voters but identify community members who are motivated by the issues addressed in the measure to recruit as volunteers


· Train Volunteers: Organizers will teach supporters effective signature-gathering strategies, petitioning alongside new volunteers, and share knowledge about the community, including identified key signature gathering events and locations


 · Develop Leaders: Organizers will work with the best, most dedicated volunteers, teaching them to gather signatures and organizing skills so that they can continue organizing their community after the signature drive is over Coordinate: Organizers will participate in weekly calls organized by the Deputy Campaign Director, relaying volunteer information and preparing progress updates on petitioning plans and signature goals Position Requirements:

 

 

· Previous experience in grassroots advocacy (volunteer or full-time) a plus.

· Strong communication and motivational skills

· Self-motivated

· Familiarity with political process of initiative petition campaigns

· Proven exceptional organizational skills

 · Willingness and ability to travel (must have a car)

· Willingness to work weekends (but no more than 40 hours per week)

· Professionalism

· Ability to work within a team

· Strong commitment to the objectives of the campaign

· Must be 18 years of age or older

· Must Be a US citizen

· Must not have any felony conviction

· Must have driver’s license and reliable transportation

This position is an excellent fit for someone with a background in sales, marketing, politics, or someone with any type of promotional experience
