Do you care about climate change? About protecting clean energy? This is an opportunity to play a critical role in saving up to 90% of Illinois's existing carbon free electricity, nuclear power. A successful campaign will mean the fastest and more affordable path to zero carbon electricity in the state.


Limited engagement. January 15-May 1 with potential opportunity to stay on with part time work after the campaign.

Must move near one of four campuses:

    • UI - Urbana Champaign

    • Western Illinois University 

    • UI - Springfield

    • University of Chicago


Application Form

Position Title:      Campus and Community Manager

Compensation: Base $30-40/hr based on experience.  40-50hrs a week.


Overall Position Summary

The Campus and Community Manager (CCM) is responsible for establishing relationships within a campus community. The CCM will be expected to engage students one-on-one in informal and formal settings, as well as in group settings and through various campus affiliations, societies, and organizations. Through engagement, the CCM will cultivate a culture of activism and volunteerism and translate that into direct constituent advocacy. The CCM will report directly to the Executive Director.


Specific Responsibilities & Authority

  • Identify and establish relationships with existing campus leaders involved in environmental or political causes, including but not limited ANS, College Republicans, College Democrats, and other environmental groups

  • Establish communication and leadership structures

  • Tap into existing campus structures to secure volunteers

  • Provide excellent front-end training and ongoing development of volunteers

  • Maintain superb volunteer follow up and provide excellent real-time leadership for student canvasses

  • Execute regular events, including documentary screenings, clean energy open mic nights, and letter writing parties.

  • Provide clear and consistent data weekly to analyze effectiveness of action tactics and evaluate project progress

  • Maintain appropriate social media presence to support community outreach efforts

  • Manage up to two student organizers.


General Responsibilities

  • Become proficient in pro-nuclear talking points and organizational messaging

  • Deliver training curriculum to volunteers; provide feedback on the volunteer training curriculum.

  • Participate in and oversee on-ground organizational field activities

  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director


Qualifications

  • Flexible, motivated, self-starting; able to work with limited supervision

  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize requests to meet deadlines

  • Strong moral character and sound judgement; must be able to work scrupulously with volunteers

  • Polished interpersonal and oral communication skills

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy

  • Familiarity with database and CRM software; proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software

  • Some experience in social media platforms and curating web content

  • High school diploma required, bachelor degree or prior election/movement building experience strongly preferred
