End Citizens United’s Mission: To combat Big Money in politics and dismantle our rigged political system by electing campaign finance reform. ECU works towards the mission by: electing pro-reform candidates, raising the issue of money in politics as a national priority, and using grassroots membership to demonstrate political power on the issue of money in politics.

 

Reports to:  Vice President of Political Affairs

 

Job Summary: The Political Director will lead the political department and is responsible for developing and implementing the federal political efforts for End Citizens United. 

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

·     Oversee and maintain ECU’s relationships with federal candidates, campaigns, party committees, and partner PACs

·     Develop and implement 2020 federal endorsement process and make recommendations for candidate endorsements

·     Lead political work on endorsed U.S. Senate and House campaigns and closely monitor political landscape for opportunities for engagement

·     Manage $2 million PAC giving budget

·     Leads interdepartmental coordination with research, digital, communications and fundraising on behalf of endorsed candidates. 

·     Manage Deputy Political Director and Political Assistant 

 

Qualifications 

The Political Director must be a self-starter with at least three cycles of political and campaign experience. Senate campaign experience is highly desired. The Political Director must have a strong interest in stopping big money in politics and helping elect campaign finance reform champions to Congress, possess excellent communication skills, good attention to detail, the ability to think on one’s feet, and a sense of humor. The Political Director will be based in DC but must be willing to travel and committed to the diversity of our candidates, membership, partners, and staff.
