Description:

Tina Smith for Minnesota (TSM) is hiring Organizers.  This is a full-time, paid position.  This position reports directly to the Organizing Director.


Organizers are responsible for helping to execute the campaign’s organizing plan at the grassroots level across the state. As an organizer you will build our volunteer base, recruit volunteers to support our direct voter contact efforts, and support our GOTV efforts. Minnesota experience is nice, but not required.


Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A commitment to progressive social change through electoral political organizing 

  • The ability to execute a strong plan and lead volunteers

  • A positive, kind, empowering and no-drama approach to their work

  • Deep understanding of racial and gender equity


Primary job responsibilities include:

  • Build relationships with volunteers in turf.  

  • Recruit and train volunteers to ensure TSM has a presence across Minnesota

  • Work closely with Engagement team to funnel volunteers and organizations into DVC & GOTV efforts

  • Build and maintain campaign database of volunteers

  • Identify and capture volunteer opportunities

  • Conduct in person volunteer recruitment and organize direct voter contact actions


Minimum Qualifications: 

The ideal Organizer will be authentic, inclusive, and a go-getter. The successful candidate will demonstrate many of the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • An ability to keep calm and patient in all circumstances.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects at once.

  • Ability to meet short deadlines, while keeping long term objectives in mind.

  • Must be a self-starter, and be able to work independently and as a part of a team.

  • Demonstrated commitment to racial/gender equity.

  • Knowledge and use of Vote Builder including Voter File, and My Campaign; and field management tools helpful.

  • Experience organizing in communities of color and underrepresented communities across Minnesota useful.

  • Outstanding written and oral communication, including effective communication among diverse audiences and stakeholders

Applicants must also be comfortable working long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends, and have access to transportation, laptop and phone.
