Resource Media is working to create a more equitable, sustainable world, and
we’re looking for a passionate digital campaigner to join our Seattle
office. We’re seeking someone that is motivated by social justice, and
excited to harness the power of communications and community to create
change. You should know what it means to tell a good story, from the
Twitterverse to the New York Times, and understand the tools available to share it.
We are a mission-driven nonprofit PR firm with a unique point of
view. We provide communications services to a variety of progressive
groups, but also operate independently or in coalition when we see unmet
needs in the movement. We work on issues that impact the health of
people and planet, from climate change to clean energy, family planning
to food and farms. Some of our current projects include La Madre Tierra, Women at the Center and Clean Energy Access.
Our ideal candidate has a background in digital communications or
organizing, and is comfortable communicating across differences. You
should understand how to plan and execute online campaigns, and how to
evaluate their success.

Core Job Responsibilities
- Help plan and implement campaigns across a range of platforms
(email, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) to reach broad constituencies, lift up
new voices, and engage supporters.
- Produce multimedia content using tools like Exposure, Photosnack or iMovie.
- Help build and maintain simple WordPress websites (basic web development skills are highly desirable, but not required.)
- Prepare traditional and digital media materials such as press
releases, fact sheets, tweets, Facebook posts, blog posts, slideshows,
presentations, graphics, and opinion editorials.
- Manage Resource Media and/or clients’ social media accounts, and report on results.
- Track news about our issues, and brainstorm story or outreach ideas that help people connect with our causes.
- Pitch stories to reporters or bloggers
- Compile and analyze media coverage using Google Alerts, Meltwater, Lexis Nexis, and Crimson Hexagon (we can provide training).
- Build and maintain media lists using Meltwater (we can provide training).
- Serve as a thought partner and support staff to colleagues across a range of issues and offices.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Understands the basic elements of effective communications, and knows how to tell a good story.
- Familiarity with email campaign platforms (Mailchimp, Salsa, Vertical Response, etc.), and email strategy
- Experience using Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, Instagram, and Pinterest.
- Ability to build and maintain basic WordPress websites highly desirable.
- Skilled at writing for a variety of media, and manipulating images using tools like Photoshop or PicMonkey.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Comfort with (or willingness to learn) Google Docs, Slack, and Dropbox.
- Experience with research and reporting, ideally using tools like
Google News, Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, and Lexis Nexis.
- Communicates openly and honestly. Respects and supports team members.
- Returns requests for help or information promptly, and asks for clarification or guidance when needed.
- Can identify as well as solve problems.
- Brings ideas, energy and a sense of humor to the work.
